Felix Preece was born in Birlingham near Pershore in about 1895. He enlisted in the Royal Fusiliers in St Martins School, London on 21st September 1914 and was posted to the 6th Battalion. He landed as part for a draft for the 2nd Battalion on the Gallipoli Pensinsula on 20th July 1915. However he was invalided home with with sickness on the 8th September that year.
His health unfortunately deteriorated, and he was admitted to Knightwick Sanatorium with severe chest disease. He was discharged being no longer physically fit for war service on 5th April 1916. A medical board convened at Worcester in October 1916 found that his condition was as a result of infection and exposure whilst on active service and by this time was confined to bed. This illness was to prove fatal, he was discharged from hospital and died at the family home at May Cottages, Quest Hills Road some time before the end of 1916.
