Albert Rea, a native of Newland, was killed during the Passchendaele offensive.
He served with the South Midland Territorial Artillery in France and Flanders, and was admieeted to hospital for a short period of time in January 1916. He was granted a week's leave in May 1916. In October 1917 the 48th Division, of which Rea's artillery brigade were a part, were attacking German positions near Poelcappelle, and presumably 241 Brigade were supporting this movement.
